Ubisoft has taken the hyperspace leap and delivered a galaxy-sized update for fans eagerly awaiting *Star Wars Outlaws*. During a surprise showcase event yesterday, the publisher revealed an ambitious year-one content roadmap for its upcoming open-world Star Wars adventure, and it’s clear they’re going all in.
Set between *The Empire Strikes Back* and *Return of the Jedi*, *Star Wars Outlaws* follows scoundrel Kay Vess as she navigates the galaxy’s criminal underworld. While anticipation has been building since last year’s cinematic reveal, this new roadmap signals Ubisoft’s intent to support the game long after launch.
The Year One Pass will include multiple story expansions, with the debut expansion “The Crimson Heist” launching within a few months of release. According to Ubisoft, this DLC will deepen the ties between Kay and new syndicates, and introduce a high-stakes infiltration mission set on a never-before-seen planet.
In addition to narrative content, monthly live events and limited-time contracts will keep the smuggler’s boots moving. Ubisoft promises “free content drops featuring new missions, ships, gear, and allies.” This structured post-launch pipeline mirrors the ongoing live-service model seen in titles like *Assassin’s Creed Valhalla*, suggesting *Outlaws* is set to be more than just a one-and-done galaxy tour.
One of the most crowd-pleasing announcements is the addition of a New Game+ mode and photo mode enhancements arriving just weeks after launch. Ubisoft also teased “community-run bounties” that will let players hunt down infamous targets across the Outer Rim, hinting at potential PvE co-op content.
While skeptics are wary of Ubisoft’s growing reliance on live service, the breadth of post-launch plans could be a force for good if executed properly. With Jedi, bounty hunters, and spice runners around every hyperspace lane, the outer edges of this galaxy have never looked so alive.
*Star Wars Outlaws* launches August 27 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. If the roadmap plays out as promised, scoundrels and sharpshooters alike may have plenty of reason to stick around long after the credits roll.
