FromSoftware has finally pulled back the Shardveil on Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, unveiling a jaw-dropping new trailer alongside a confirmed release date. The long-anticipated DLC expansion is officially set to launch on June 21, 2024, and judging by the footage, it’s going to be a punishing return to The Lands Between.

The new trailer, which dropped early this morning, is packed with cryptic lore, haunting vistas, and towering new foes that promise to challenge even the most battle-hardened Tarnished. Among the standout moments is a glimpse at a colossal, molten giant wielding an iron hammer the size of a chapel and a staggering number of never-before-seen enemies, suggesting a significant expansion of the game’s enemy roster.

Most notably, fans were treated to a brief look at what may be Miquella—brother of Malenia and one of the game’s most enigmatic figures—now stepping into the spotlight. His presence has been heavily speculated since the base game’s release, and the new footage finally seems to confirm his integral role in Shadow of the Erdtree’s narrative.

Gameplay-wise, the trailer hints at a darker, more surreal offshoot of The Lands Between, with twisted landscapes and melancholic ruins overgrown with unfamiliar flora. It remains unclear whether the expansion will be set in an entirely new realm or a warped segment of the existing world, but environmental storytelling seems to remain front and center.

According to FromSoftware’s official website, the DLC will introduce new weapons, armor sets, magic, and an undisclosed number of story quests. It’s not yet clear how far into the main game the player must progress to access the DLC content, but early reports suggest it will require players to have defeated at least one major late-game boss.

Shadow of the Erdtree will be available on all current platforms—PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—with pre-orders going live today. The wait may have been long, but for Elden Ring fans, June just became a whole lot more sacred.
