Square Enix has officially confirmed that *Final Fantasy XVI* will finally make its way to PC, alongside the release of its second and final DLC expansion, *The Rising Tide*. The long-awaited news arrived during a special livestream event, where producer Naoki Yoshida detailed the studio’s ongoing commitment to expanding the game’s universe—even nearly a year after its PlayStation 5 debut.
*The Rising Tide* is set to arrive on April 18, and will feature a brand new storyline centered around the mythical Esper Leviathan, a fan-favorite summon that was notably absent from the base game. Players will unravel a hidden mystery within the vast world of Valisthea as protagonist Clive Rosfield journeys to a forgotten village battling against time and destiny. The new content promises several hours of gameplay, new environments, fearsome enemies, and additional Eikon abilities that will enrich the already acclaimed combat system.
Yoshida also revealed that the long-discussed PC port is now in its final stages of optimization and will launch later this year. While no exact date was given, players can expect the PC version to arrive with all previously released updates, including the dual DLCs, additional control customization options, and performance enhancements. A benchmark tool will also be released ahead of launch to help players gauge how the game will perform on their systems.
Square Enix’s move to bring *Final Fantasy XVI* to PC marks a significant step in its wider multiplatform strategy, aiming to give more players access to flagship titles that were once console-exclusive. The PS5 version of the game, praised for its breathtaking visuals, cinematic storytelling, and fast-paced action combat, is now poised to experience new life across a broader gaming community.
*Final Fantasy XVI: The Rising Tide* will be available for individual purchase or as part of the game’s Expansion Pass, which includes December’s *Echoes of the Fallen* DLC. With these developments, the end of Clive’s saga inches closer—but the journey isn’t over yet. Fans can expect more updates soon as Square Enix ramps up to a strong PC release later in 2024.
