The announcement, made during the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase, marks the next major milestone for Bethesda’s sprawling sci-fi RPG since its release last year.

*Shattered Space* promises to deepen the cosmic mystery at the heart of *Starfield*, introducing players to a previously unknown celestial faction described as “haunting and powerful.” In contrast to the familiar political tensions between the United Colonies and Freestar Collective, this new group appears to have ties to ancient alien technology and metaphysical phenomena—ushering in darker, more supernatural tones than seen in the base game.

The expansion begins with a strange gravitational anomaly detected near the hidden planet from the base game’s climactic final act. As the player investigates, they’ll uncover remnants of a lost civilization and unlock secrets that could alter the very fabric of known space. Bethesda says players can expect “multiple new star systems” to explore, densely packed with handcrafted locations and story-driven encounters.
