Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree Gets Release Date and Epic New Trailer

FromSoftware has finally unveiled the long-awaited release date and first full trailer for *Shadow of the Erdtree*, the highly anticipated DLC expansion for *Elden Ring*. The expansion is set to launch on June 21, 2024, bringing with it a brand new area, a host of brutal new bosses, and what looks to be a deeper dive into the mythos of the Erdtree and Miquella.

The new trailer, revealed early this morning, runs just shy of four minutes and explodes with the haunting, intricate beauty that FromSoftware has become known for. It introduces The Land of Shadow, an entirely distinct realm separated from the Lands Between, and seems to revolve heavily around fan-favorite character Miquella — a figure mostly absent from the base game but long shrouded in mystery.

New enemies include towering grotesque beasts and armored knights that look like they walked straight out of a Berserk illustration, while previews of new environments range from ash-covered wastelands to gothic citadels draped in golden rot. The trailer also teases new weapons and abilities, giving players brief glimpses of what could be new magic types and movesets, including what appears to be a deadly whip-spear hybrid and backflipping blade attacks.

FromSoftware has confirmed that *Shadow of the Erdtree* will be a premium expansion, available digitally across all platforms where the original game resides — PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Priced at $39.99, the DLC also comes bundled with a new Collector’s Edition, which includes a stunning 40-page hardcover art book, a limited Miquella figurine, and access to a digital soundtrack.

Players will need to have defeated Mohg, Lord of Blood — a late-game optional boss — to access the new content, which ensures the DLC remains endgame-tier in both lore and difficulty. While fans were hoping for an earlier release window, the extended development time seems to have paid off, as the trailer betrays a level of polish and depth that could rival the base game’s best moments.

With less than four months to go, *Elden Ring* players can begin preparing (and dying repeatedly) once more — the Lands Between are about to get a lot more dangerous.
