Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Confirmed for June Release, New Trailer Showcases Massive Expansion

MelloGeneral Gaming News1 hour ago1 Views

FromSoftware has finally lifted the veil on its long-awaited Elden Ring expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree. Revealed in a brand-new trailer today, the DLC is set to launch on June 21, 2024—more than two years after the base game’s critically acclaimed debut.

The new trailer offers tantalizing glimpses of what’s to come, with cryptic narration, haunting music, and sweeping vistas that rival the grandeur of the Lands Between. Fans can expect new locations, menacing bosses, and lore-rich storytelling that expands upon Elden Ring’s already dense narrative. One of the most talked-about elements is the introduction of a mysterious burnt tree—presumably the titular Erdtree now in shadow—hinting at cataclysmic consequences and new divine threats.

Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at FromSoftware have kept most of the expansion tightly under wraps until now. While speculation has been wild among the fan base, the teaser backs up a few prominent theories about the return of Miquella, the elusive Empyrean sibling of Malenia. The trailer’s imagery and characters allude to Miquella’s possible awakening or descent, which would align with the dark themes standard in the Soulsborne lineage.

Shadow of the Erdtree promises a sprawling new area to explore, filled with secrets, enemies, and mechanics that may redefine the boundaries of what players expect from an Elden Ring experience. According to publisher Bandai Namco, the expansion will be priced at $39.99 and will launch simultaneously across all platforms—PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

The DLC’s release date instantly shot to the top of trending charts, igniting the long-dormant Elden Ring subreddit and flooding social media with frame-by-frame breakdowns of the trailer. With new weapons, armor sets, and dungeons teased—but not yet detailed—players now have just a few months to prepare for another punishing pilgrimage through FromSoft’s dark fantasy masterpiece.

Shadow of the Erdtree looks to be more than just another expansion—it’s shaping up to be a full-blown opus in the Tarnished’s saga. And come June 21, the Lands Between won’t be the same.
