Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC Gets Release Date and Epic New Trailer

MelloGeneral Gaming News1 hour ago1 Views

FromSoftware has finally pulled back the curtain on the long-awaited DLC for Elden Ring, titled *Shadow of the Erdtree*. Dropping on June 21, 2024, the expansion promises to deliver fresh lore, breathtaking new environments, and monstrous new foes—all set to challenge even the most seasoned Tarnished. Alongside the release date announcement came a jaw-dropping trailer brimming with cryptic imagery and high-stakes encounters, instantly igniting hype across the Soulsborne community.

The reveal came via a surprise showcase this morning, ending months of speculation about when players could expect a return to the Lands Between. The trailer features haunting new landscapes, including a corrupted golden field and a sky lit with spectral flames, evoking a tone even darker than the base game. We also catch a glimpse of long-teased figure Miquella, suggesting that the mysterious Empyrean will finally take the spotlight in this expansion.

New enemies shown in the teaser range from grotesque giants with magma-infused limbs to spectral knights wreathed in black flame. Players can also expect to wield new weapons and sorceries, as glimpsed briefly in combat sequences that showcased spinning chakrams and a swirling gravitational spell that echoes *Dark Souls III*’s aesthetics.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, director at FromSoftware, described *Shadow of the Erdtree* as the studio’s “most ambitious expansion yet,” hinting at an area nearly as expansive as Limgrave. “We’ve created entirely new systems for exploration and combat,” said Miyazaki in a developer commentary. “Players who think they’ve seen everything Elden Ring has to offer should prepare to be surprised.”

The expansion will be available on all current platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. It will be priced at $29.99, with a collector’s bundle including a new artbook and steelcase available for pre-order today.

With just a few months to go, fans are already dissecting every frame of the trailer for clues. One thing is certain—*Shadow of the Erdtree* is shaping up to be a new pinnacle in FromSoftware’s legendary catalog.
