Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree Receives June Release Date Alongside Gameplay Trailer

FromSoftware has officially confirmed that Elden Ring’s highly anticipated DLC, “Shadow of the Erdtree,” will launch on June 21, 2024. After months of speculation and radio silence, the announcement arrived today alongside a stunning new gameplay trailer showcasing fresh locations, terrifying new enemies, and what appears to be additions to the game’s already expansive lore.

The nearly three-minute trailer previewed a vast and haunting new realm bathed in golden twilight, echoing the grandeur and melancholy that Elden Ring fans have come to love. New bosses—some grotesque, others majestic—seem ready to test even the most hardened Tarnished. Combat sequences teased never-before-seen weapons and magic, hinting at gameplay evolutions that could reshape PvE and PvP encounters.

Shadow of the Erdtree will be the game’s first and only major expansion, and expectations are sky high. FromSoftware president and Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki has previously stated the DLC would dive deeper into “the unseen lands” and forgotten characters of the universe, potentially unearthing long-held fan theories about Miquella, sibling of the unforgettable Malenia.

The expansion is priced at $39.99 and will be available on all platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Digital preorders are now live, with select editions including bonus content such as art books and an exclusive in-game gesture. Hardcore collectors can also look forward to a premium collector’s edition that includes a Miquella figurine—confirming suspicions that the elusive Empyrean will take center stage.

With Game of the Year accolades and over 20 million units sold, Elden Ring left a lasting impact on players and the RPG genre alike. Shadow of the Erdtree appears poised to expand on that legacy, offering a deeper dive into the Lands Between for those still hungry for discovery, challenge, and unrelenting mystery.

June can’t come soon enough.
