Sony used to dominate when it came to free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Every month, we’d get AAA blockbusters, critically acclaimed indies, and absolute must-play titles. But in 2025? The magic is gone.
Look at this month’s lineup:
This isn’t just a weak month—it’s part of a trend. PS Plus used to give us games like Bloodborne, The Last of Us, Uncharted 4, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Now? We’re getting leftovers, filler content, and games that most of us either already own or never asked for.
Meanwhile, Xbox Game Pass continues to destroy PlayStation Plus by offering day-one releases of massive AAA titles. Microsoft has made it clear: if you subscribe to Game Pass, you get brand-new games at launch. Sony, on the other hand, expects us to be excited about a remastered Sonic game and a retro collection?
If Sony wants PS Plus to stay competitive, they need to start adding real value again. That means day-one first-party releases, bigger and more exciting titles, and stopping the constant recycling of old games. If things don’t change, PlayStation Plus is going to lose subscribers fast—because right now, it just doesn’t feel worth the price.
