Valorant Console Beta Launches June 14 With Cross-Progression and Limited Access

Riot Games has officially announced the console beta for its acclaimed tactical shooter, Valorant, will launch on June 14, offering Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players their first opportunity to experience the game natively on consoles. After years of speculation and community demand, Riot is finally bringing its strategic 5v5 shooter to a new platform—though the rollout will be limited at first.

The beta will begin in select regions including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Interested players can register via Riot’s website for a chance to receive access, as invites will be distributed on a rolling basis. Riot has expressed interest in expanding the test to more regions as stability and performance are assessed.

One of the most anticipated features coming with the console version is full cross-progression. This means that players who have already invested time and money on PC can carry over all their unlocked content—Agents, skins, weapon buddies, and more—into the console ecosystem. Your progress stays with you, regardless of platform.

However, there will be no cross-play at launch between PC and console users. Riot made the decision intentionally to preserve the “competitive integrity” of the shooter, which could be affected by the significant differences in input between keyboard/mouse and controllers. Instead, console players will queue exclusively with others on their own platform for the foreseeable future.

Riot has taken a thoughtful approach to adapting Valorant’s precision-based gameplay for controllers. Early previews indicate that custom aim-assist tuning and redesigned UI elements have been introduced to make the game feel natural in a console environment without sacrificing the depth and complexity that made it a mainstay in the competitive scene.

The console beta launch marks a major evolution in Valorant’s journey. With over 28 million monthly players on PC, expanding to consoles opens up the game to an entirely new audience. While Riot hasn’t announced a full release date yet, the studio has hinted that a wider launch could come later in 2024, depending on feedback from this initial test.

For now, tactical shooter fans on consoles can finally see what all the fuss is about—starting June 14.
