Xbox Game Pass is heating up this July with a fresh batch of high-profile additions, headlined by the highly anticipated Frostpunk 2 and the action-packed Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. Microsoft announced the July 2024 lineup today, revealing an impressive mix of genres that are likely to satisfy a broad range of Game Pass subscribers.
Developed by 11 bit studios, Frostpunk 2 will lead the charge as a day-one Game Pass release. The sequel to the acclaimed city-building survival game delivers a bleak but compelling experience set 30 years after the first game’s disastrous blizzards. Players will face new societal struggles, resource management dilemmas, and ethical quandaries as they battle a steadily worsening climate in the frozen heart of a post-apocalyptic city. The game is scheduled to join Game Pass on July 25th for both Xbox Series X|S and PC, and early impressions from beta testers point to a darker, deeper narrative than its predecessor.
Also making its debut is Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, another day-one release that blends magic, gunpowder, and brutal melee combat into a fluid action-adventure package. Developed by A44 Games — the studio behind Ashen — Flintlock follows protagonist Nor Vanek and her mystical companion Enki as they attempt to rally resistance against the gods. Set in a fantasy world torn apart by war, Flintlock promises fast-paced traversal, stylish combat, and deep RPG progression when it hits Game Pass on July 18th.
Rounding out the list this month are indie darling Dungeons of Hinterberg (July 9), a narrative RPG with puzzle and combat elements; The Invincible (July 11), a sci-fi thriller based on Stanisław Lem’s novel; and Tchia (July 16), the charming, open-world adventure inspired by New Caledonia.
Microsoft is continuing its 2024 strong streak by delivering day-one access to major releases while bolstering its commitment to indie studios. With this month’s lineup, Game Pass subscribers have plenty to explore — from post-apocalyptic governance to fantastical rebellion — making July one of the most diverse months yet for the service.
